SHIRLEY ANN PUGH WALTON of Lubbock, TX
passed from this life April 28, 2026. A memorial
service will be held at a later date at the Abilene
Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
She was born to Willard Lee Pugh Sr. & Lera Nell
(Hagar) Pugh (both of RHS-1938) on Sept. 9, 1943
in Ranger, TX. She attended Ranger High School
in the RHS Class of 1961 but moved to Albany, TX,
during her junior year. After graduating from
Albany High School, Shirley had a long career in
secretarial/administrative positions. In 1976, she
married Tom Walton (RHS-1958) leaving Texas for
Ohio, Colorado, South Dakota, Missouri, then back
to Texas as the two pursued their careers. Shirley
retired from the VA Medical Center in Amarillo, TX,
in 2004 and relocated to Lubbock. Not wanting to
sit still, she worked in computer data entry for
another 10 years in Lubbock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister
Mary Pugh Walton (RHS-1958) and brother Willard Pugh
Jr. (RHS-1959)
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Tom, her
son Jim Ford and wife Susan, Des Moines, IA, stepson
Tom Jr, Midlothian, TX, her sister Barbara Perry and
husband James, Lubbock, and nephews James Perry Jr.
and wife Debbie and Greg Perry and wife Johnell and
beloved grand-nieces and nephew, Zach, Lindsay and
Ashley.
