MYRTLE JANE LESTER WATSON, 85, of Brecken-
ridge, TX, affectionately known as Granny to all
she met, passed away April 2, 2024, with interment
at the Breckenridge Cemetery.
Myrtle Jane Lester was born March 3, 1939 in Hamlin,
TX to Marjorie Mayhall Lester & John Henry Lester.
She attended Ranger High School in the Class of 1957
at Ranger, TX. In May of 1966, she married Lee Roy
Watson in Breckenridge. Jane was a clerk at the Whoa-
n-Go for many years. There, she came to know many of
the county's residents. She knew them by name & what
they were going to buy before they came in the door.
She later worked in the school cafeteria for a few
years before retiring to take care of her grandkids.
She was a seamstress and quilter and loved to crochet
blankets for all of her family. Soon after, Jane
started to babysit school teacher's children before
officially retiring in 2004. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Woodson for many years before
moving back to Breckenridge. While living in Brecken-
ridge, she attended Calvary Baptist Church & Crystal
Falls Baptist Church.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her parents,
John & Marjorie Lester; her husband, Lee Roy Watson;
one daughter, Vickie Rogers; and six brothers and
three sisters.
Jane is survived by two daughters, Liz Boggess, Tammy
Carey and husband Rusty; one son, Rocky Rogers and
wife Sharon; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Drummond; nine
grandchildren and their spouses; twenty great-grand-
children; seven great-great-grandchildren & numerous
nieces and nephews.
