JOHN HARVEY WYLIE, 88, went to be with our
Lord & Savior on May 22, 2026 in Springdale, AR,
surrounded by the love of his family.
John was born on Feb. 28, 1938, in Gorman, TX. He
grew up in Ranger, TX, and graduated with the Class
of 1956 from Ranger High School. John was a member
of the 1953 Bulldog State Football Champions. He
went on to live a full life, defined by his devotion
to family, his warm spirit, and the simple joys he
loved to share with others. Golf was a large part of
his life from playing at Texas Christian University
and throughout his life and he also enjoyed watching
golf.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jewel
Katherine "Kay" Vaughn Wylie (RHS-1956), with whom
he shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories.
In his final years, John found his greatest happiness
in the company of his children, grandchildren, and
great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable
pride and joy. He had a special way of making those
around him feel loved whether through his stories,
his presence, or his well-known and always-ready
treats. He will be fondly remembered for his gift
of Rice Krispy treats, which he always had on hand
to share with family and friends.
John is survived by his children, Kristy (RHS-1982,
Jim) Maher & John S. Wylie, both of Springdale, AR.
He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren, Kevin
(Kate) Maher, Matthew (Shannon) Maher, and Michelle
(Tony) DeRosa; and his adored great-grandchildren,
Ella, Benny, Gabriel, Mac, and Eloise.
John's legacy is one of love, generosity, and the
enduring bonds of family. He will be deeply missed
and forever remembered by all who knew him.
