YVONNE "VONN" HENNON BLACKBURN, 87,
a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away
peacefully on Nov. 20, 2025 in San Angelo, TX.
Born on Jan. 29, 1938 in Olney, TX, Vonn was a
woman of intelligence and grace, whose presence
enriched the lives of all who knew her. She
spent her formative years in the heart of Texas,
graduating from Ranger High School in the Class
of 1956 at Ranger, TX. She carried the spirit
of her small-town roots throughout her life,
embodying the strong values & work ethic that
were instilled in her from a young age.
Vonn's professional journey was marked by her
passion for the equestrian world, serving as a
respected Horse Racing Secretary to Manor Downs
in Manor, TX, and Bandera Downs in Bandera, TX.
Her keen eye and expertise also led her to the
role of Placing Judge and Daily Form Reporter
at Delta Downs in Vinton, LA. Her commitment to
her work was evident in the precision and care
she took in every task.
As a devout Christian, Vonn lived her faith
through her actions, touching the lives of many
with her kindness and unwavering support. She
will be lovingly remembered by her family,
including her sons Ben Yarbrough of San Angelo,
and Bobby Blackburn and his wife Shannon of
Oklahoma City, OK. Though her beloved husband,
John David Blackburn, and her dear parents,
Anna and Albert Hennon, as well as her cherished
grandmother, Tinne Lee, predeceased her, their
legacy of love continues through Vonn's memory.
Vonn's creative spirit shone brightly through
her love of painting ceramics. Her artistic
touch brought beauty into the world and joy
into the hearts of her family and friends. A
true Texan at heart, Vonn found pleasure in
the simple joys of life, like fishing and
indulging in the nostalgia of old westerns
on television.
Her long-term friend & companion, Dan Mitchell
of Abilene, TX, along with a host of brothers
and sisters-in-law, their children, & countless
friends, will miss Vonn's gentle spirit and
nurturing presence. Vonn's life was a testament
to the power of love and the strength of family
bonds.
Vonn Blackburn's legacy is one of love, intelligence,
and selflessness. She navigated life with a quiet
strength and an open heart, leaving an indelible
mark on the world. As we reflect on her life, we
are reminded of the light she brought into our
lives and the enduring impact of her generous
spirit. Vonn's memory will be cherished and kept
alive by the many lives she touched. We take solace
in knowing that her legacy will continue to inspire
and guide us, just as the stars continue to shine
even after they have faded from view.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully
remembered. Yvonne "Vonn" Blackburn will be deeply
missed, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding
light for her family and friends. As we bid farewell
to this remarkable woman, we hold tight to the memories
