CORA BETH WHATLEY CARLSON, 90, beloved
sister & aunt & friend, passed away July 25, 2025.
Cora Beth was a special lady to all that knew her.
Whether it was during her early years as a nurse,
or her retired years as a sponsor of Miss New Mexico,
or an avid Lady Raider and Red Raider basketball fan.
Cora Beth and her husband Gordon enjoyed many years
of Big 12 Basketball tournaments supporting the Lady
Raiders. She nursed for over 30 years and was an
integral part of starting the first Hospice of Hobbs
NM.
Cora Beth was born on Dec. 12, 1934 in Palo Pinto
County TX. She attended Ranger High School in the
Class of 1952 at Ranger, TX.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Buddy &
Trixie Whatley, husband Gordon Carlson, and sister
Sara Francis Whatley Stewart (RHS-1947).
She is survived by her brother Ricky Whatley and
wife Lori of Cisco, TX, two nieces, Shari Stewart
of Little Elm TX, and Kelli Berglund of Rowe NM.
We will forever cherish the memories of her style
and flair for life, the kindness and joy she brought
into our lives, and her love for sparkly jewelry.
